About Us

ARRC is a comprehensive restoration company providing turn-key stream, wetland and floodplain restoration projects through consulting, design-build, construction and native nursery services.

Our History

In 2001, Lee Irwin founded Aquatic Resource Restoration Company (ARRC). With a passion for conservation, and a long working history in environmental construction and design, Lee channeled his expertise into business. What started with stream designs and grant writing turned into a fully comprehensive ecological restoration company capable of managing every process of a restoration effort – from design and permitting to construction and native plantings.

With a team of highly skilled professionals and builders, we cultivate resilient ecosystems, mitigate flooding and erosion risks, and promote biodiversity through a wide array of means. Our goal has always been to restore the balance and ecology of these delicate ecosystems through effective design principles, construction of stream, wetland and floodplain BMPs, and the vegetative establishment of native trees, shrubs and herbaceous materials.

Our Services

At ARRC, our team is here to provide guidance every step of the way when it comes to your projects. We provide a comprehensive range of services within the realm of both design and construction, and we own and operate a native nursery. This fully integrated approach empowers our team to be self-reliant in our restoration endeavors, ensuring successful and sustainable outcomes for our clients.

From conceptualizing designs, navigating the permitting process, securing grants, and executing construction, our in-house team offers tailored assistance suited to your project needs. Additionally, we assist in selecting native plant species essential to establishing and stabilizing your project.

Mission Statement

ARRC’s mission is to collaboratively cultivate resilient ecosystems, mitigate flooding risks and promote biodiversity throughout the Mid-Atlantic region while fostering community engagement and stewardship for generations to come.

In 2006, ARRC performed construction on the Spring Creek Phase III restoration project. I saw it again for the first time in 18 years and couldn’t believe how great it still looked even though it takes on an enormous amount of stormwater from the City of Harrisburg.
